
The resort of Larnaca is also a vibrant town and it may be miles away from Polis Cyprus but it boast a large shopping area, a harbor and a modern seafront promenade with dozens of restaurant bars overlooking the long sandy beach. Larnaca also has a market just outside the town every Sunday which is well worth a visit and a medieval castle at the bottom of the main street. Whilst there be sure to take a stroll around larnaca habour which is situated at one end of Larnaca promenade.
The westerly side of Cyprus is home to some beautiful costal resorts and charming traditional villages. The main resort is Ayia Napa with a superb harbor and miles of sandy coast line. The Ayia Napa resort is also famous for it's night life and the main strip has a bar or restaurant to suit every taste. Party till dawn or enjoy a huge variety of cuisine from around the world in one of the many Ayia Napa restaurants.
A few miles up the road from Ayia Napa is Protaras a great place for family holidays with the famous Fig Tree Bay beach which has soft golden sandy beaches. Be sure to check out the great water sports facilities when you visit. There are dozens of restaurants and bars including a Mexican several Chinese restaurants as well as a McDonalds for the kids. If your taste are a little more sophisticated then the new Eden Square restaurant area in Protaras is a must visit for Japanese, Italian and much more.
Only twenty minutes walk from Protaras you will find the cosy little resort town of Pernera nestling down along the coast it has some great sandy coves with restaurants overlooking the warm Mediterranean ocean. The atmosphere here is relaxed and easy going with lots of pretty bars and friendly restaurants to choose from.
Only 5k further down the coast is the resort of Kapparis which borders with Northern Cyprus and the ghost town of Famagusta. From the cliff top you can see the old port town of Famagusta which until the Turkish occupation in 1974 was the main port of Cyprus and a booming coastal resort renown the world over for it's great hotels and miles of glorious white beach. Kapparis is a growing resort with plenty of bars, restaurants and several shops. A resort that would suit those prefering a more relaxed holiday but with all the amenities close by.
Paralimni is the main town on the west side of the coast and is situated within a short distance of the main resorts. You will find everything you may ever need here including several large supermarkets a cinema and even a branch of Marks and Spencer!
Situated on a hill just outside Protaras the town makes for a great days shopping with some great cafe bars overlooking the pretty town square.
