Since 1974 Northern Cyprus has been occupied by Turkey and consequently this has led to potential problems for anyone planning to purchase any kind of real estate there or deal with an estate agent on that side of the Island.
The argument by the southern Cypriots is that some of them still own land or houses that an estate agent over there could be offering purchasers for sale.
Until the "Cyprus problem" is resolved we strongly advise anyone against dealing with any estate agent offering property or land for sale on the other side of the border.
Many speculators selling such houses or apartments will encourage perspective buyers to purchase there by pointing out that Turkey is being considered for inclusion within the E.U. Whilst this is true it is widely accepted that the " problem" will need to be resolved before then and at this time the only people who recognize this country are Turkey themselves buy then they would wouldn't they? The rest of the world has trade and traffic embargoes with them so if you are considering property purchase in Northern Cyprus do your homework first.
